Welcome to Minter Creek Quilt Studio

My name is Maureen Pfaff; I'm a Longarm quilter in Port Orchard Washington.  My love for quilts began over 25 years ago when I made my first quilt which took me a year to complete! Of course I went big, no lap quilt for me, I made an oversize Queen sized quilt.  I was never taught how to piece together a quilt, use a rotary cutter or even what a seam allowance should be, so my first quilt was pieced with everything wrong; BUT, it is still a quilt and I love it because it was my first attempt and my last for many years.

I began quilting again when my daughter was given a comfort quilt by a group of ladies called "The Upper Room Quilters". We joined them in making quilts for the ill and for missionaries to take to children all over the world.  While at a sewing expo, I saw a Longarm sewing machine and fell in love with the intricacies of Longarm machine quilting.  My passion soon drove me to launch a business which I named after the local creek we lived near at the time.  A couple of years later we moved to the other side of Henderson Bay and later to Port Orchard but the name remains the same as does my passion for quilting.I have quilted numerous customer quilts and many charity quilts for the "Upper Room Quilters". I love to teach women, kids, (and yes, I'd even teach men how to quilt) and to see the excitement when they see their design come together.

In 2004 I began Machine quilting for customers and teaching small groups of ladies in my studio. For a time I ran quilting retreats out of my home and eventually built a loyal clients within the Gig Harbor and surrounding areas.  I do have some out of state customer and am happy to ship and receive quilts through the mail.
